School-Based Health & Reproductive Education
Kalangala’s teenage pregnancy rate rose from 37% in 2022 to 42% in 2023. School dropout, unsafe abortions, and intergenerational poverty follow. HMCHug’s school health programme is a direct response.
By September 2027, we will implement Family Life Education (FLE) in at least 20 secondary schools across Kalangala District, reaching 10,000 adolescents. Topics include reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, HIV/STI prevention, GBV awareness, drug abuse, and life skills. We train peer educators, establish school health clubs, and link schools to clinical services.
