Our Works
Mobile Health Services via Outreach Clinics
Given that the majority of Kalangala’s islands lack road infrastructure, mobile health clinics deployed by fully equipped boats are the primary means of reaching isolated populations — especially pregnant women, infants, and the elderly.
Our outreach teams conduct scheduled monthly visits to target communities, operating in coordination with Village Health Teams (VHTs). The goal: over 36 outreach missions per year, reaching 10,000+ individuals across the three-year project period.
Mobile Outreach Services
Antenatal Care (ANC)
Child and Maternal Immunization
We deliver vital protection through routine childhood immunizations and tetanus toxoid vaccines for expectant mothers. By bringing these life saving services directly to the islands, we maintain high immunity levels and protect the community against preventable diseases like meningitis and neonatal tetanus.
HIV Testing & Treatment Linkage
Our team provides confidential voluntary testing and counseling services across the archipelago. We ensure that any individual who tests positive is immediately and successfully linked to specialized ART centers for treatment, maintaining our commitment to a one hundred percent linkage rate.
Essential Curative Services
Mobile clinics serve as the primary source of treatment for common but dangerous island health issues. We provide immediate diagnosis and medication for malaria, diarrheal diseases, respiratory infections, and sexually transmitted infections, reducing the burden of disease in underserved fishing communities.
Emergency Referral Systems
For cases requiring advanced medical intervention, we coordinate specialized boat referrals to ensure patients reach mainland facilities. This system is critical for managing obstetric emergencies and severe complications, bridging the gap between isolated island clinics and comprehensive hospital care.
The Numbers Behind The Need
We are actively fundraising for a dedicated water ambulance — the single most urgent gap in the district’s emergency response capability.
12,487 Lives Impacted
Our mobile outreach teams reached over twelve thousand individuals across remote landing sites, providing essential healthcare to families previously isolated from medical systems.
$140,000 Emergency Transport
We require funding for a specialized water ambulance boat equipped with medical oxygen and stretchers to ensure safe emergency transport to mainland hospital facilities.
100% Patient Linkage
Every individual identified with a chronic health condition receives immediate and successful linkage to specialized treatment centers for long term care and professional monitoring.
