Youth Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment
Poverty is a root cause of teenage pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and poor maternal health in Kalangala. When young mothers have no income, they cannot afford transport to clinics, food for themselves, or sanitary products.
By September 2027, HMCHug will provide vocational training and start-up support to 300 vulnerable adolescents and young mothers in tailoring, baking, goat rearing, and sustainable agriculture. Profits from community goat projects are reinvested directly into village health activities — including fuel for outreach boats.

Training eighty five young residents in animal husbandry and business planning to ensure long term financial stability.

Distributing starter goats to fifteen youth to create a sustainable pass on model for the community.
Diverse Vocational Training Programs
Providing essential skills in tailoring, baking, and marine safety to increase local employment opportunities for youth
Village Saving and Loan Associations
Establishing community saving groups to help women and adolescent clubs manage finances and invest in futures.
